Field Trip for USTP international students
OIA held a field trip for USTP international students on Saturday, 1 Dec.2018.There are 51 international students from 4 schools- National Taipei University(NTPU), National Taipei University of Technology(NTUT), Taipei Medical University(TMU), and National Taiwan Ocean University(NTOU). They come from France、 Netherlands、Germany 、Peru、Iran、Swaziland 、Bangladesh 、Nigeria 、Burkina Faso 、Sierra Leone、India、Indonesia 、Vietnam、Malaysia、Philippines、Thailand and China to join this event. On the morning of the day, we met up at each school and headed to the Great Roots Forestry Spa Resort on Saturday morning. The resort has a rich ecological tour with as many as four or five hundred kinds of rainforest plants in the park, such as Thickfruit Millettia trees, Autumn maple trees, and centuries-old eucalyptus trees. The most special is the roots of Jiuding, the roots are up to 170 cm. (Many species of trees in tropical rain forests have tabular roots that help to keep the soil from washing away in the rain. Such roots grow at a pace of only about one centimeter a year, and are thus extremely precious. The radial tabular roots growing on steep slopes, like those at the Great Roots Forestry Spa Resort, are especially rare in Taiwan). There are more than 4,000 insects and more than 30 species of birds. Among them, the leaf ferns (Pteridophyta) that existed in the dinosaur era are listed as the eight-colored birds preserved by the world. They are all worthy of visiting in the resort, so they can be called "the treasures of the primitive tropical rain forest ecology." Let ‘go to discover and enjoy the healthy and relaxing essences of the entire rare natural wonders in the forest. After the ecological tour, USTP international students had lunch together, and then joined in the activity of Decoupage DIY. First, they ripped the pattern which they like on the fabric, then used the special glue to stick it on the bag, designed the unique bag by their own. This trip combines the unique ecological exploration and handwriting experience of Sansia culture. USTP international students can create their own cultural experience while enjoying the beautiful geographical environment in Sansia by exchanging ideas with friends from different countries through the activities.
